A Hoodie Kind of "Mourning"!

I hear complaints everyday about the cold, about the icy wind knocking us all over here in APRIL!??.....I have to say, myself included, especially out at softball tonight.....I was COLD! BUT...I also have to say that I am in "mourning" over having to put away my hoodies when the weather decides to behave as "Texas Summertime Weather"!

I love my hoodies, they make me warm and cozy, they make me sleepy, they go with my sweatpants (that I will also dearly miss very soon)...but the main reason I dread the "hoodie hibernation" is because I look like this...........

under my hoodie!! Lily white skin and all!! Not to mention the great big sausage arms that hide under the hoodie as well!

BUT... I have come to grips with the impending doom of swimsuit season nipping at my kankles and have decided to grab it by the horns and OWN IT! So I bought this......
and this...

to hopefully look like this........
by June 1st!
OK!-OK!-OK!....I'll settle with just being able to fit in my 9yr old grannie suit with the sexy grannie skirt attached, that's all I ask of myself!

(Deep down.....I sorta am ready for those pool parties, cook-outs, fireworks, and flip-flops)!!!
Note to self: Don't forget to pick up a bottle of this..............

2nd Grade Potty Duty!

My girls and I seem to have some of the best conversations in one of two places: (1.) On the couch after school as they give me the 411 about who said what, who did what, who wore what that day...or....(2.) Lying in my bed on Saturday and Sunday mornings. This Sunday morning was NO EXCEPTION!

Hallie started out with..."I think I have found me a new job at my school!"

"What's that?" I asked.

"The 2nd grade FLUSHER!" she exclaimed proudly.

"The 2nd grade FLUSHER, what kind of job is that?!" I questioned.
(hmmmm??? I'm thinking.....is this a teacher assigned or self-appointed position??)

She was glad to explain in detail, "Well, anytime I go into the bathroom at school, I feel that I have to go to each stall and make sure they are all flushed! (Oh no!...this sounds self-appointed!) For some reason those kids up there at my school are scared of that flusher deal! So I check each stall until I get to that really huge one on the end and get em all flushed." She proudly (and ever so matter of factly) went on to add...."and Mom, those things are NEVER FLUSHED! I find alot of really bad things sometimes! The other day I flushed one.....and it flushed, but then the poop just popped back up like a real egg, and I had to keep flushin till it stopped popping back up!"

Oh good gracious!!! She really thinks she is doing something important!!

I guess in most psychotherapist's eyes this would be a classic OCD behavior or maybe even a far-deeper issue, but in this sweet man's eyes, CES's own favorite Janitorial Specialist, Mr. Robert..... She really is doing something important (and I bet he really appreciates it too) and if he only knew how good of a "job" she was doing, he might even cheer her on by saying..."You Go Girl, keep up the nasty, good work"!!

Good Grief!! If she only took her READING & MATH this serious!!

I'll Take Chicken Bones for $1000, Please.

We are getting new neighbors!.....uh-um, yep, new neighbors! They are building a giant home next door to us and Abby just adores the construction crew! On her frequent potty breaks she loves to sit at the fence and BARK BARK BARK at the spanish speaking only, spicy food loving, hard workers over there!

Last week, they showed THEIR love for her and her little yapper in a friendly gesture by way of a few CHICKEN BONES! She came back into the house, after one of her extremely obnoxious yappy fence visits with the excitement of one who had just scored the biggest TBONE steak in the state! After much to her dismay, I was able to retrieve the (un)lucky treasure from her jaws to find a few icky little splintery CHICKEN BONES!!

"Good Lordy!" I thought.

This cannot be good!
I was right! After 3 days in the "doggy" hospital, multiple x-rays, gallons of IVs and antibiotics, a diagnosis of "severe pancreatitis", and $1000 later...Abby is back home and slobbering to get over to that fence! After a maticulous inspection of the fenceline tonight.....we found it to be a puppy dog's heavenly buffet of Taco Casa and greasy leftovers from the MOBILE BURRITO truck!
Sorry sweet Abby, but that good spicy stuff is NOT on your "post-pancreatitis" diet, and from now on, it will be supervised potty breaks for your little yapper!

"Silly Papa's" Big Day!

We celebrated my dad's....(aka. "Silly Papa") birthday last weekend. He took his own little trip down "Memory Lane" as he tried to slip into his old "Keller High School Letter Jacket". His brother, Uncle Charlie had a little better luck, with only busting out the lower buttons..... We all had a good laugh, but sweet old Pepa thought it was all just a big snooze!

Happy Birthday Silly Papa!!
We Love you!!

Bake Sale Results are IN....BAKE IT & THEY WILL COME!

Apparently, this town loves a good "Drive-Thru Bake Sale"!! To the tune of $700 they love it....YUMMY SUCCESS, I'll say!

We were so excited to see such a traffic jam on Pleasant Run today, even more excited to see no police in the mix to find out what all the hubbub was about in front of my house, and even more-more excited that the buckets of cookies DIDN'T blow away with those 50mph winds that we battled out there! Despite, the "really close to tornadic wind conditions", we had people in cars, people on foot....we had teachers, principals, crossing guards, a cute black dog, grandparents, lawn care workers....you name em, they were here.

"Bake It and They Will Come!" Seriously, they will!

I SMELL COOKIES!

Today we are having our "2nd Annual SSS Drive-Thru Bake Sale" in our driveway. I'm NOT EVEN going to mention the 50mph wind gusts that are ripping out there right now!! I'm NOT!
The proceeds made from this Bake Sale will go to help pay my mortgage...(no! not really)....Seriously, the money made will go to help pay for a party that an organization called Students Standing Strong throws for the outgoing 5th graders each year. Last year, we made over $600 in one hour! (I may seriously think about a Bake Sale to pay for all this cheerleading gear! hmmm??...is that even legal??)
Anyways...visit http://www.studentsstandingstrong.com/ for info on this great organization!

Now on to the good stuff......look at these delicious donations that have been delivered to sell today!! As I am typing with my hands tied behind my back as not to JUMP into this............

Or dive into this bucket of homemade cookies.........
People are so creative and generous!! Now I am LOVING this donor!! She took "BAKE" to a whole NEW LEVEL!!.....
This is my kind of BAKING!!

Who's Foolin Who?

Today is the girls' most favorite "holiday"of the year.....a day when they can fib, trick, prank, and fib some more without any consequence!
So we started off bright and early......this April Fool's Day!

This "Fool" was waiting for Glen as he entered his office this morning.....

....and with all of the recent "attic rat" hunting activity going on around here, I couldn't resist the Walgreens $1.99 rubber rat trick. Oldest one in the book, but with some brown and black paint this little fella made Glen jump higher than his new found "office help"!
Well, all's fair in Love & War and when we got up to get ready for school, we found the water to be shut off and that all the toilet paper and kleenex were missing!! AND YOWZA...did we have to GO!!!!
Somebody needs to watch his back...the day is still young (as I sit sewing ALL his underwear together........).
Happy FOOL'S Day ya'll!!
