Abra-Cadabra!

This morning was Beauty Shop Day! I go about every 4-6 months depending on my bank account, how much time I have on my hands, and how really bad my roots are. #1. It's expensive (my husband always reminds me I'm in the wrong business when he reviews the checks and sees the amount that was written to my "Hair Magician") #2. It takes a while and #3. SEE!! My roots were way bad!

I am not really sure what my natural hue is, as I have been an ongoing hair coloring project since the early 80's! My darling Aunt started pulling those tiny hairs through that plastic cap with her fine needle when I was in the 7th grade! Like I said, this project has been O-N-G-O-I-N-G for Y-E-A-R-S.

But today, I not only had the inkling to get these roots shaped up, but also to get a new Summer Do. I walk-in talking about wanting extensions with the owner and leave...well..... I'll show that in a minute.

As I'm processing under the dryer I usually fumble through a Hair Magazine, which is always dangerous for me, because I usually find a much envied cute style on Heidi Klum or Carrie Underwood. Then I somehow believe I would magically become them if I only had their luscious coiffure. Sure, my "Hair Magician" can TRY to get my hair to look sorta like theirs, but like I mentioned she is only a "HAIR MAGICIAN", not a face magician or a cellulite, skinny body MAGICIAN! So I go away with a great haircut, but disappointed in my inability to sing like Carrie or strut the catwalk for Victoria's Secret without jiggling!

Today's magazine was quite entertaining and I figured I would just be skimming the pages and still be leaving with only my lighter, usual, mom in her late 30's boring Do.......as I thumbed through.....

I found this one.....errrrr?? Nope.

Uhh....no, thanks, no need for a "bump-it" today.

Then there was this Saurday Night Live-looking delight....

and I already look like this in the mornings! (No thank you Ms. Kate Gosselin!)

And then I flipped over to this....Good grief, wonder what sleazy salon this is..&..is he really doing her hair or what??!! (I totally swear this was a Hair Style Magazine!)

Finally, I got to the end of this book of crazy hair and found one I really really liked...but dang! everyone around me, by this time, had started to stare at me shooting pictures of this magazine, so before I could get a shot of "THE STYLE", I quietly tucked higher up into my dryer and put my phone/camera away........so you'll just have to trust me...it sorta looks like the picture, after all, she is my "HAIR MAGICIAN"!

Introducing my new Summer Do!
Ms. Heidi Klum eat your little pregnant-again heart out!

It Only Takes Once.......

Mother's Day Gifts are priceless. I love the homemade ones the most! I have saved every card, poster, cut & glue-sticked book ever made for me by my little Picassos!

This Mother's Day was no different. I woke up on Sunday as the girls pounced on me in bed with their pretty pastel gift bags filled with selfmade treasures in tow!

"Mine 1st, " howled Hallie.
"No, mine 1st," echoed Riley.
Immediately, Hallie retreated from any arguement about me picking or not-picking her homemade gift 1st.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"You probably won't wear this one either," she hissed.
"Wear this one either?" I asked puzzled.
"I made this gift for you in class and you probably won't wear this one as much as you don't wear those earrings I bought for you at that expensive store last year!" she growled.
OH DEAR! She had noticed that I had NOT worn the large peach and gold chandelier earrings on too many occasions over the past year, and it stung! It stung her bad.

"Of course I will!...and I just bet it will match those earrings beautifully, now lets see it!" I told her.

"WOW! I love it and will never take it off!" I joyously exclaimed.

After opening the rest of my precious and priceless Mother Love Loot from my sweet girls, it was off to get ready for church!

I didn't leave ANY gift behind on this vey special day....even my "Canary YELLOW Dinner Jacket" Christmas nightmare treasure of a gift was adorned! (Until, I got into the car to leave and they all howled, "TAKE THAT THING OFF...IT WAS A JOKE!")
It only takes once.....to be hissed at by your sweet 8yr old, who put alot of thought into those
ear-chandeliers last year, to get you layering on all kinds of gifts!

Trust me, you won't catch me without my peach and gold chandeliers anytime soon! I even cleaned house in them today! But................. ............the "Canary Yellow Dinner Jacket" stayed in the closet!

Lil' Dab of Coca~Cola & A Smoke..........

Meet Grandma Grace & PePa.

On May 11th, 1946 they became husband and wife.

They are my grandparents and were my next door neighbors for 24 years.
Needless to say, we are very close. I love these 2.

They were always there for me as I was growing up.
They drove me to school if I missed the bus and mom wasn't home to take me.

They always met me after school to ask, "What did you learn today?"

She taught me how to drive in an old green Buick.

She let me smoke my 1st cigarette, and taught me my 1st curse words.

She taught me & my best friend about the "Birds & the Bees" one day while out taking a spin in that old green Buick.

She would always let me play in the flour while she baked in the kitchen.
She taught me how important it was to read my Bible.

He helped me plant my 1st garden; he tilled, while I planted.

They'd take me "crawdad" fishing with an old piece of bacon & some string.

She let me cry in her arms when my tricycle burned up in our house fire when I was 4.

She taught me that Vicks Vapor Rub in your nose and a pillow between your knees will put you right to sleep.

She was always quick to remind me that the song "Amazing Grace" was about HER!

She gave me my most memorable piece of advice while I was pregnant with my 1st baby about managing morning sickness, she advised, "a lil' dab of Coca~Cola and smoke on my cigarette would always make me feel better!"

Today, they are still in love, but unable to be together.
He is 89, still living on his farm. My girls and I love to go rambling around here and there on his Mule cart with him.
She lives in a Nursing Home unable to remember what she had for lunch.
I miss her wild & crazy mind and her fun free-spirit, but I know she is still in there.

One of the last visits we had with her, she looked at my oldest daughter, unable to recall her name, and said, "Wow! You're really getting the zits & tits now, aren't you?!"

Happy Anniversary to my sweet Grandma Grace & Pepa!
I Love You Both So Much!

"When I Grow Up I Want To Be A Mother!"

.....is what Hallie is always telling me! She spent the majority of Mother's Day today in this......
pretending to be at her "wedding", so that she could soon after become a "Mother"! I am so thankful she "pretends" in that particular order! Wedding.....then.....Mother!

Riley on the other hand, is enjoying every minute of the here and now. Middle School fun has her so busy, she doesn't have much time to think of "pretend weddings" and "make-believe twin babies".
Which is perfectly fine with me, because before I can blink, those things will no longer be make-believe!

Tonight the girls & I went to see.........They asked me if I would want to be "17 Again" and I said, " NO WAY....then I wouldn't be your MOTHER!"...and...I wouldn't trade that for anything in the world!
Thank you for making this the best job EVER!
I love you both more than you will ever know!
Thank you for an extra-special Mother's Day!

Losing To A Cowgirl....isn't so bad!

The undefeated Wildcats suffered their first loss Friday night against the Cowgirls!
It didn't seem to bother these 2 in the least!
It helps when you lose to one of your best buds!

Congratulations to both teams for playing a great game!

Friday's Family Room

Kelly over at Kelly's Korner is hosting another Friday edition of "Show Us Where You Live" Friday.....
I had so much fun looking at everyone's kitchen's last week, I had to join in on today's Friday Fun of Living Rooms!

Welcome to our Dining Living Room! The table with the flowers on it is practically where we eat every meal. If it's not eaten under the local Sonic Pavilion, you can find us at the coffee table!

Ahhhhh! My favorite "Power Nap" spot! Everyone knows if you'll just give me 10 minutes every now and then, I'm good to go till at least 2am!

Dad's got his "favorite" place too!

This picture that I have in my living room is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES and forever will be. My mom, my sister, and I in front of the Twin Towers in NYC, with the beautiful American Flag flying high behind us. I am so thankful to have this picture, as it is my daily reminder of everything that I have to be thankful for.

Thanks for coming by! Happy Friday!!
