We Love Halloween!

Raggedy Ann, Dorothy, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Big Bad Wolf all enjoyed Halloween this year! It was great fun with all of our friends and the hundreds of pounds of candy we got! We love Halloween around here, because for us it marks the beginning of the Holiday Season. Can't wait for Thanksgiving!

The Pumpkin Prayer!

Two of my dear friends shared this with me and I thought it was such an adorable idea..you know I had to steal it and blog about it.....so I could share it with my friends too!

THE PUMPKIN PRAYER

Dear God,

As I carve my pumpkin help me say this prayer...

Open my mind so I can learn about You;

(Cut the top of the pumpkin off)

Take away all my sin and forgive me for the wrong things I do.

(Clean out the inside)

Open my eyes so Your love I will see;

(Cut the eyes out in heart shapes)

I'm so sorry for turning up my nose to all you've given me.

(Cut a nose in the shape of a cross)

Open my ears so your word I will hear;

(Cut the ears shaped like the Bible-rectangles)

Open my mouth so I can tell others You're near;

(Cut the mouth in the shape of a fish)

Let Your light shine in all I say and do!

(Place the candle inside and light it)

Amen!

Happy Fall ya'll!

We just had to do it........

We were talking at dinner the other night with some friends and we decided we needed some kind of "Grand Finale" for this "shrine" in our yard that we have become so "famous" for......so my brilliant 6th grader casually said, "Why not Joe the Plumber"? JOE THE PLUMBER!! JOE THE PLUMBER!! Could she really be my daughter!? She is magnificent! So of course, we went with it, and here he is! Now we have people actually stopping wanting to meet us and shake our hands! (haha!) I'm just waiting for the "city man" to show up to meet me, shake my hand, and give me my city fine for the "trashiest yard in Colleyville"!

Meet Gary & Michelle!

Meet our new little friends....Gary & Michelle! They are our two little pink lizard neighbors who come by EVERY night and say Hello! It has become something we look forward to during bath and shower time at our house....hanging out with Gary & Michelle. We like to think they come by to see us, but I'm guessing they enjoy the bugs drawn to the light of our bathroom window more than watching us wash up?! Just a huntch! By the way...the names?? Hallie came up with those....???

Colt Pride...Bumper Sticker Style!

We are so proud of our Colleyville Middle School Colt, Riley! She made the "A" Honor Roll her 1st 6 weeks of Middle School! She is loving school and doing very well! WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER and her accomplishments and for her love of those around her!

She was laughing that she got ANOTHER bumper sticker for me...I have noticed that Middle School comes with alot of "bumper sticker" pride...you can get a bumper sticker for any and every activity that you participate in at Middle School...Choir, Students Standing Strong, Cheer, Dance, Honor Roll, Band, Chess, Volleyball, Basketball, Math, Reading, English, PE, Lunch, D Hall, ISS.....(ok, not really all that).....but seriously, l-o-t-s of bumper stickers! I'm getting there see.......






I gotta find that "perfect spot" for the Honor Roll one. I don't want either of my girls to think for one minute that I am not proud of them or their activities or accomplishments, so I must display the sticker! But I do need some balance here, you think?....and I must be able to see out the rear view! ;) hmmmmmm.....do I really start on that other side now??!

Now I lay me down to sleep...in my parent's bed...

Wonder if there's a connection? At least it looks like they tried to save me a spot?? I do know that there are three little campers that are about to get some cots to sleep on in the garage with their new "snake friends" if they don't give me my bed back!

5 FOOT RATTLESNAKE!?! Apparently.....THREE......two mini ones + their dad!!

This weekend officially started it...BONDING TIME WITH DAD! Good grief! Do my sweet, darling, loving, Christian angels enjoy this type of fun, umm...from the looks on their faces....I think so!!?? These two fine trophies are just a couple of the "fun finds" they brought home to me from their "great, awesome" weekend with dad. Personally, I would have appreciated a simple...... "MOM, what happens at the deer lease STAYS at the deer lease!" this time around!! BUT, instead these headless, slippery, nasty reptiles are proudly skinned and displayed in the garage for all other fellow "hunters" to come over and "worship"! One fierce fellow hunter has already stopped by to "ooh & ahhh" over these precious keepsakes! Report from campsite was, "Not a deer, pig, turkey, or dove in sight, but enough rattlesnakes for everyone!" Yee-haw! I am just so thankful my dear Lord heard my prayers and brought them back home to me VENOM-FREE! Happy Hunting!....just a few more months to go......ho-hum!

Yard Art Goes Worldwide!!

To be a not so political kind of quiet family in a little town...we've kinda stirred things up! Our "Political Halloween Yard Art" was featured on CNN this morning!! CNN!! They had a spot on their website asking for your "Political Halloween" photos and I thought..."Hey, look what we have... a "Political Halloween Display!" So I sent it, thinking it would be in a cute photo gallery on the bottom of the page somewhere.......OH MY!!! I immediately start receiving emails from a guy with "Associate Producer" after his name and this morning my Caller ID is flashing "TURNER BROADCASTING"! I'm suddenly finding myself spelling my last name to a guy who is fixing to ANNOUNCE it on the news!! "WHAT!? WAIT?! Maybe you shouldn't announce my LAST NAME and WHERE I LIVE as I am screaming I AM A REPUBLICAN on your mostly DEMOCRATIC station!!!" But he did and now I have locked all my doors and shut all the blinds...so far so good! (haha!!)

One of them even told me that if I had a real JOB I wouldn't have all this time to ******* up my yard. (Nice!) "Hey buddy, I have a J-O-B...( well, ok maybe only part-time), but I pull my weight around here!"

Did you know that Halloween & Politics really gets people talking!!?? I mean really talking!!! phew!!

Politics...Just plain scary!

With Halloween & the Presidential Election both quickly approaching, we thought we'd use our Halloween display this year to show just where we stand on the election!

I was a bit nervous about crowd reaction, but was pleasantly greeted with a gazillion horn honks, thousands of thumbs ups, a few whoops & hollers, and a great many "Go McCain"s! Even had a few families actually park the car, get out, and pose with our "nominees". God Bless America and Our Freedom of Speech!!
